World Book Day 2019 - where have all the children gone?
Today our usual class was replaced by a whole host of fantastically dressed characters from books and films. How many do you recognise?
They had great fun talking about the books they were in and why they were so good! They then worked together in teams to complete a World Book Day Scavenger Hunt Challenge before they enjoyed their grown ups coming in to share a story with them.
Thank you to all of the grown ups for providing such lovely costumes and for coming in to read this afternoon.
You can find magic wherever you look, sit back and relax, all you need is a book!

Ground control to major rocket builders!
What a fun afternoon we have had building some amazing rockets with our grown ups. We had rockets with sparkles, flowers, boosters, apollo 11 mission badges and mini astronauts. They looked... out of this world!
We even got to show them off to the whole school by having an assembly about them and the whole school got to ask us questions about what we did.
We were very proud of them and want to say a big THANK YOU to all of the grown ups who came in to help us.
Artists in residence!
We have had such fun this term recreating the work of famous abstract artists. We have recreated our own versions of Mondrian, Rothko, Pollock and Klee. The drip painting technique of Pollock was definitely the most fun, who doesn't like making paint splats (artistically of course!)
Take a look through a mini Klee Gallery at some our 2D shape versions of his 'Castles and Sun' painting.

Happy Birthday Billy!
It was Billy's 6th Birthday today and we helped him to celebrate in style! We wrote invitations to his party and invited Mrs Elliott along. We helped him to open his presents, gave him his cards and ate a fantastic birthday picnic. We even had a few games of musical statues and a bit of a dance.
Billy loved his birthday presents and his special new winter hat and jumper.
The only problem is that now he thinks we should have his birthday every week and only ever read stories about bears! (hmmm!)
Programming with Morphun lego
Today we had great fun building models out of Morphun Lego. We worked in teams and were told we had to build a 3D model that we had all of the correct parts for.
We tried, but after a while we decided it would be far easier with a set of instructions. We were given the instructions and then made our fantastic models much more easily. It got us really thinking and talking about how things need instructions to work, even our bodies! It's a good start to us beginning to think about programming and programming language.
Once upon a time....
We have had great fun this week reading as many stories as possible to celebrate National Story Telling Week.
On Friday, we got to bring in our favourite books from home and had lots of time throughout the day to share parts of our best stories with our friends.
A snowy welcome back to school!
We have been so busy back at school since we came back from our Christmas break. We have learned about road safety, watched a pantomime, painted in the style of Mondrian and wrote some fantastic stories about a pair of magic shoes. But what was happening outside was far more interesting to us today. It snowed!! We were delighted and obviously had to go outside immediately to confirm it.
After that we checked the weather forecast for the following weeks excitedly to see if it would happen again. We loved finding out that one day next week the temperature is going to be minus 4!
Wrap up warm for school!
